Aveda
Aveda was founded in Minneapolis by hairdresser Horst Rechelbacher, and built its identity around botanical ingredients, aromatherapy and environmental positioning — renewable energy in manufacturing and recycled-content packaging are long-standing parts of the brand's messaging. It is sold largely through salons and its own stores, and the range covers shampoos, conditioners, styling, scalp treatments, body care and a small skincare line.
Well-known families include the rosemary-mint and shampure lines, damage-focused conditioning ranges and scalp products for flaking and build-up. The signature scents, blended from essential oils, are as recognisable as the products themselves.
"Plant-derived" is not a synonym for gentle. Essential oils and botanical extracts are among the more common causes of contact allergy in cosmetics, and strongly scented products can be a poor fit for reactive skin or an irritated scalp. Check the ingredient list, patch test, and see a dermatologist for persistent itching, flaking or hair loss rather than working through more products.
