Anti-Frizz Serum
An anti-frizz serum is a leave-in hair product designed to smooth the strand’s surface and reduce the halo of raised, flyaway hairs that appears in humid weather or after rough drying.
Frizz is largely a cuticle story. The cuticle is the overlapping outer layer of the hair; when it is lifted by dryness, chemical processing, heat or friction, moisture from the air moves in unevenly and the fibre swells and bends. Serums coat that surface with silicones such as dimethicone or cyclopentasiloxane, with plant oils, or with a mix of both, creating a light water-resistant film that smooths the cuticle and adds slip.
Apply a small amount to damp or dry mid-lengths and ends, warming it between the palms first, and keep it away from the roots, where oils and film-formers weigh hair down and can build up on the scalp. If you are prone to breakouts along the hairline, back or chest, wash residue off the skin — heavy conditioning products left on skin can contribute to congestion.
