B Corp Certified
B Corp Certified means a company has been assessed and certified by B Lab, a non-profit that scores businesses on social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. The certification covers the whole organisation — governance, workers, community, environment and customers — rather than any single product on the shelf.
In beauty the label appears increasingly on packaging and brand pages. It tells you something about how a business is run: supply-chain practices, environmental reporting, and legal commitments to weigh stakeholders beyond shareholders. Companies have to re-certify periodically and scores are published, so the claim can be checked rather than taken on trust.
What it does not tell you is whether a product will suit your skin. B Corp status is not a safety assessment or an efficacy claim, and it is not the same thing as cruelty-free, vegan or organic certification — those are separate schemes with their own criteria and their own auditors. Read the ingredient list for what matters to your skin, and treat ethics labels as information about the company behind it.
