Eye Cream

An eye cream is a moisturiser formulated specifically for the thin, delicate skin around the eyes, applied as a targeted step before or alongside the face moisturiser. The skin here is thinner and has fewer oil glands than the rest of the face, which is the rationale behind dedicated products.

Eye creams generally combine hydrating humectants and emollients with ingredients chosen for common under-eye concerns: caffeine to temporarily reduce the look of puffiness, peptides and antioxidants aimed at the appearance of fine lines, and light-reflecting or brightening agents to soften the look of dark circles. Textures are usually lightweight so they sit comfortably under concealer. Benefits are largely cosmetic and gradual, and results vary with the underlying cause, since dark circles and bags can stem from genetics, pigmentation, blood vessels, or fat pads that topical products cannot change.

A small amount is patted gently along the orbital bone, avoiding the lash line so product does not migrate into the eyes.
