Anti-Aging Routine

An anti-aging routine is a regimen built around the visible signs associated with skin ageing — fine lines, uneven tone, loss of firmness and rough texture. What such a routine can influence is appearance and skin condition; chronological ageing itself is not something a cosmetic stops.

The elements with the widest support are unglamorous. Daily broad-spectrum sun protection is the most consistent recommendation, because ultraviolet exposure drives photoaging. A gentle cleanser and a moisturiser that keeps the skin barrier comfortable make everything else easier to tolerate. From there, an antioxidant in the morning and a retinoid at night are the two active steps most often discussed.

Build slowly: one new active at a time, a few nights a week before daily use, with patch testing first. Retinoids increase sun sensitivity and are not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding — ask a doctor. Persistent redness, new or changing lesions, or anything that worries you belongs with a dermatologist rather than another shelf of serums.
